Rushing out of New York

Public enemy #1 – Rush Limbaugh is once again in the news. This time it’s about his departure from New York City in the face of a slew of new taxes that will soon go into effect. One of those taxes will be a “millionaires” tax that will increase the State Income Tax on people making over a million dollars from 3.65% to 4.8%.

For all of the Obama voters who hate Limbaugh so much – yet know almost nothing about him; Rush has lived in Florida (where there is no state income tax) since 1997. He has however, kept an apartment in Manhattan where he could go to escape potential hurricanes and still broadcast his show. He claims that he works in New York about 15 days per year. He also claims that he has been audited by the state every year for twelve straight years.

When Rush announced that he’s had enough, and that he’ll be leaving the city permanently, the disgraceful Governor of New York - David Patterson, told reporters that if he had known that Limbaugh would leave the city, he would have raised taxes a long time ago.

 Ha-ha-hardy-har-har! You’re a riot Governor Patterson!

This pathetic and cavalier statement just shows the ignorance and arrogance of this liberal Democrat governor! During a time of record budget deficits bought on by record spending, this buffoon thinks it’s a joke that the wealthy people who support this massive welfare state may be leaving in droves.

Last month our billionaire nanny-mayor Michael Bloomberg warned about the consequences of taxing the city’s highest earners. Bloomberg stated that the top 1% of earners in NYC; which comes to about 40 thousand people, account for 47.8% of the tax revenue for a city of over eight million people. (A lot more than that if you count all of the illegal aliens) Bloomberg warned that if only ten or twenty thousand of these people left the city, it would severely impact its finances.

Who does Governor Patterson think will pay for all of the social-welfare spending if people like Rush Limbaugh leave the city? Who will pay for public housing? Who will pay for the billions in Medicaid spending? Who will pay for the food-stamp program? Who will pay for the public school system which is greatly comprised of children of illegal immigrants? Who will pay for all of this crap – Governor Patterson?

For all of you envious losers in the NY Democrat Party – will you pick up the tax tab for the departing Rush Limbaugh? If more of the evil rich follow Rush out of town, you people will surely be paying for it! The people of this city who make 50, 60, 70 thousand will be paying for all of the compassionate spending that New York liberals are known for.

The Obama era has now opened up the floodgates for a national taxing spree by Democrat run states and municipalities. Instead of doing the proper and moral thing – cutting spending; the liberals have used this economic crisis to take more and more money out of peoples pockets. The new taxes in New York are too many to list here. They are basically taxing just about everything that you do and buy. At the same time, they are increasing spending on social programs and welfare.

I grew up in NYC, so it’s not that easy for me to leave my roots. However, there is a limit to how much I can take. I don’t make anywhere near the money that Rush Limbaugh makes. In fact – I’m not even in the same galaxy! That being said; I and people like me are also severely over-taxed by the city and state. We also don’t have the same “buffer” that Rush and others like him have. The massive taxes that we pay make it hard to save and invest our money, and therefore, keeps us running up a greased steep hill in order for us to just get near the neighborhood that Rush is in. Then again, that’s what socialism and liberalism is all about; keeping people in the lower and middle class just where they are, and making it very difficult for them to advance economically.

If this keeps up much longer, and if there’s no significant change in our State government after the 2010 elections, this blog may very well become the Gotham Resistance in Exile.
