Obama says there’s too much vitriol – maybe he’s right

This past Thursday CBS’s Harry Smith went to the White House to spend some quality time with Barack Obama. This is the same Harry Smith who only a couple of weeks ago had a colonoscopy on live television. No wonder CBS’s ratings are in the crapper.

During the interview, Obama said the following when asked by Smith if he was aware of the level of enmity that crosses the airwaves:

“Well, I think that when you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, it’s pretty apparent, and it’s troublesome, but keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of vitriol comes out.”

Well, I’ve been reflecting on what our president said, and believe it or not, I kind of agree with him. There is too much anger and vitriol directed towards him; I’m as guilty as anyone in that regard. So… in light of the fact that it’s the night before Easter Sunday, I think it only proper to focus on peace and tolerance to offset all of the hate.

Let’s all listen to this uplifting sermon while reflecting on our sins and striving to tone down our critisism towards those we disagree with.
