Lance Berkman is a Yankee!

Just before the trading deadline the NY Yankees acquired one of my favorite players in MLB, Lance Berkman. Berkman has been one of the most productive players in baseball over the past decade playing for the Houston Astros. He’s also a throwback type player who keeps his mouth shut and lets his play do the talking.

Lance Berkman is officially a Yankee!

Berkman, who went 0 for 4 in his Yankee debut tonight, will be used mostly as a DH for the remainder of the season. However, I believe that Berkman will have a monster second half with the Yankees, and most likely become the regular firstbaseman next season. Teixeira is a solid defensive firstbaseman, but he doesn’t compare to Berkman. Although I’m a long time Yankee fan, I haven’t been a fan of many of their moves over the years. Getting Lance Berkman is a move that I believe will benefit the NY Yankees for years to come.

You guys got a steal in Berkman. He’s coming off of injury and should only get better as the season progresses. I agree with you that he will likely be the everyday first basemen next year.

He’s also extremely funny and intelligent so your media is in for a treat. He went to Rice University in Houston which has some of the toughest acedemic standards in the country. I guess now I have a reason to watch American League baseball.

Keep up the great work,

Todd

I love the added depth he brings. And God know’s we’re going to need as much as we can get down the stretch.
