Corrupt Mainstream Media disinterested in gasoline prices

I clearly remember a time when G.W. Bush was in the White House and gasoline prices were approaching the $2.50 mark, then the $3.00 mark. The left-wing media, aka mainstream media, was all over the story. The local NY media, and particularly the Marxists NY1, aka New York Pravda, made sure to remind their viewers each and every day about the rising prices.

What a difference a few short years make.

Now that Barack Hussein Obama (or whatever his real name is) occupies the White House, and it’s an election year, the media interest in gasoline prices is almost nonexistent. I no longer see any interviews at filling stations with frustrated drivers. Then again, what do I expect? Gasoline prices have only gone up 80% during Obama’s first three and a half years in office. It’s not like prices have doubled or anything!

While it’s true that the wealthy liberal elite of the upper west side of Manhattan and the Ivy League educated trust-fund babies that occupy places like Williamsburg and Park Slope Brooklyn may not be effected by the price of gasoline, but where is the media’s concern for the working middle class that they so often pretend to champion? Where is the concern for the cab drivers and the small businesses that rely on vans and trucks to make their living? Then there’s the upstate region of NY and most of Middle America where driving is almost an absolute necessity; the areas where people need to drive just to get to work and to get to the supermarket. Where are the MSM’s tug-the-heartstrings stories about these people?

Media attitude on gasoline prices.

I know, I know, it’s not Obama; it’s just economics, just supply and demand. It’s Bush’s fault! He and his evil cohort, Dick Cheney, are hoarding hundreds of millions of gallons of oil taken out of Iraq in colossal underground tanks under their homes. Obama wholeheartedly wanted the Keystone Pipeline project to go forward, but he couldn’t because the application wasn’t filled out properly. Besides, Obama has done everything in his power to put a Chevy Volt in everyone’s driveway. Is it his fault that Americans are too stupid to purchase this wonderful car? And finally, why do Exon Mobile and BP need to make such huge profits? Like healthcare and housing, gasoline should be free – a human right!

Regardless of the media’s attempt to gloss over the gasoline story, fuel prices will be a huge factor in the upcoming elections. Even Democrats and the self-righteous Independents will first think about their immediate self-interests; as they always do. While many may still be in love with Obama, or should I say the idea of Obama, they love their money and standard of living more. Will it be enough to overcome the billion plus dollars that the Obama campaign has at its disposal? Only time will tell.

P.S. In fairness to the media, I just saw a local CBS promo for their upcoming broadcast mention the record high gasoline prices. Have agents of the MSM hacked into my WordPress account and trying to discredit me?

Update: The CBS local report blamed the price of gasoline on the current events in Iran. They spoke to an “expert” who warned that if things really get hairy in Iran gas prices can go to “unimaginable levels.” Really now? So why haven’t we been drilling like mad, and why hasn’t construction of the Keystone Pipeline already started? The CBS report also mentioned that many refineries are temporarily closed for re-tooling in order to produce the mandated summer-time blends of gasoline. Who, pray tell, is responsible for these ridiculous seasonal blends? It couldn’t be the left-wing environmentalists and their water-carriers in the federal government – could it? As expected, Obama is just a victim of circumstance.
