McDonald’s workers want higher wages and union

Workers at some fast food restaurants in NYC walked off the job on Thursday afternoon and held a rally in front of a McDonald’s on 40th Street and Madison Avenue.

The group is demanding higher wages and unionization for fast food workers.

“They’re giving us $7.25 an hour, so many of my co-workers are living on food stamps. You can’t live on that in this city,” a protester told Good Day NY.

Right, so if $7.25 an hour is all you can make, maybe you shouldn’t be living in “this city.” I can’t live in Beverly Hills on the money I make, so I don’t.

The workers who say they don’t make enough to put food on the table for their families would  like an increase in their hourly pay to $15.

Maybe that’s because these fast food jobs aren’t supposed to be for people that are supporting a family. Historically these jobs have been for students and other people with limited skill sets that need to make some extra money. Very few fast food workers stay at their jobs for very long. They eventually move on to bigger and better things. Since when has it been easy for people with little education and/or skills to get a high paying job?

This is all about the Socialist concept of a ‘living wage.’ Get used to more of this under the second term of the Obama regime.

This reminds me of a cab ride I took in Manhattan a couple of weeks before the election. The cab driver was a black man with a pretty heavy accent – I believe from somewhere in Africa. While driving, he was having an animated cell-phone (hands-free) conversation. He was talking about the election and regurgitating all the MSM talking points about Mitt Romney. Romney is rich, Romney is out of touch, Romney doesn’t like people of color, Romney doesn’t care about the working man, blah, blah, blah. He then told the person at the other end that he works 6 days a week for 12 hours a day and that he can’t live like Romney does. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his sheer idiocy.

What the hell do you say to someone like that?

Where did people who immigrate to this country, or anyone else for that matter, get the idea that our streets are paved with gold? Just because you work a lot of hours doesn’t mean you’re going to live high on the hog. If cab drivers could have Mitt Romney’s lifestyle, the world would run out of yellow paint. How ignorant of the real world can someone actually be?

I think the results of this November’s election answers that question.

Something’s wrong here. Investors risk their time and money to provide service and promote meaningful work to people with little education, then they expect to make a profit.
Answer, nationalize McDonalds. Workers could then become Civil servants like congress. They could set their own pay scale, immediately get all benefits like health care (of course not Obamacare, that’s for non government workers), retire at full pay after 2 years, and not have to obey laws like the rest of us.
Of course, we’d have to rename it maybe McBama’s, have a Department of McBama with a 5 million dollar budget, headed by a Czar, & inspectors to check that customers are in the right minority proportion. Once that’s worked out, we could nationalize all the fast food restaurants, and all the workers could live like our legislators. Of course if they lose money like the post office, they just borrow from the taxpayers.
Problem solved
