If you’ve guessed that Halloween isn’t my favorite day of the year, you’ve guessed correctly. In fact, I have come to outright loathe the 31^st of October!

Now I don’t know how it is in other places throughout the country, but Halloween in New York has turned into a day that is almost unbearable for retailers, shoppers, and civilized humans alike. It has morphed into an event driven by adults, for adults, all for the supposed sake of their children.

When I was growing up in Queens, kids went trick-or-treating at private homes in the close proximity of their own homes. They almost always knew the people whose door they knocked on. Over the years trick-or-treating has changed course and is now almost exclusively focused on retail shops and other local businesses. Parents now drag their children to high traffic shopping areas and then go from one store to the next in their almost desperate search for goodies. They go into supermarkets, delicatessens, drug stores, banks, discount stores, pizza shops, restaurants, and even into liquor stores and bars!

If there were any strip clubs in the neighborhood, they would most likely pop in there as well! No candy? How about a free lap dance then?

Like I said, it seems that the parents are the driving force behind this aggressive trick-or-treating. I can’t tell you how many times I heard loud obnoxious comments (often including cursing) from parents when informed by a business that they don’t have any candy, or that they have run out. A typical outburst usually threatens to never patronize that particular business ever again! What are the values that these idiot parents are instilling in their children? What is the message here? That other people owe you something? That as long as you’re part of a mob, you can demand free stuff?

I frankly can’t see how this could possibly be much fun for the kids. Nobody really notices or looks at their costumes as they madly rush from store to store. The proprietors quickly throw some candy into the bags of the trick-or-treaters in order to limit their stay in the establishment so said proprietor can go back to trying to make a living.

Before anyone comes to the conclusion that I’m a total grinch, I do believe that Halloween has a place in our society when done right. My wife and I actually went to a children’s Halloween event yesterday (Sunday) at a local establishment that we do business with. There the kids played with each other, danced, participated in games, and had a great time without going out and hitting up businesses. The kids did get their share of candy and other assorted treats, but the goodies were paid for by the parents and/or the venue that sponsored the event. Also, the kid’s costumes were actually noticed and appreciated by everyone in attendance.

Another problem that I have with many of the trick-or-treaters (Again, I’m referring to the parents – it’s not the children’s fault.) in my neighborhood is the fact that most of them, as is the case in most major cities, are recent immigrants. Before anyone goes into a conniption and hurts themselves, allow me to explain!

The majority of trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood are now “Latinos” or “Middle Easterners.” Go right ahead and criticize me for noticing – see if I give a you-know-what! In other words, these are mostly the anchor babies of the mostly illegal immigrants who so easily find sanctuary in this once great city. I take it that the Quran doesn’t have any restrictions on shaking down infidels for sweets! Anyway, I find it maddening that these people will not even think about putting out an American flag on July 4^th, Memorial Day, or Veterans Day, but they have no problem assimilating right into the whole Halloween spirit. Gee, I wonder if it can possibly have anything to do with the concept of getting something for nothing. Can it be that our filthy politicians have managed to turn most immigrants into entitled slobs that believe America is the land of the freebie?

I now see Halloween (Again, I’m speaking of New York) as the perfect expression of the Obama age. It epitomizes much of what Obama and his radical street thug Marxists are all about. Create a mob and demand free stuff from society’s producers under the threat of violence – TRICK-OR-TREAT!

Let’s see…demanding wealth redistribution while hiding your true identity. If that’s not a day tailor fit for Barack Hussein Obama, nothing is!

I have heard this theory for years now, but historians are very reluctant to deflate the God-like status of a president who ended slavery and supposedly paid for it with his life. According to the Times article, authors Phillip W. Magness and Sebastian N. Page have uncovered “new documents” to substantiate the deportation theory.

Political correctness and sympathy have gone a long way in obstructing the truth about many of our past political leaders. The fact that Abe Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus and had civilian “agitators” rounded up and imprisoned has always stuck in my craw. I’ve never fully been able to get around that. Either one believes in the Constitution, or one doesn’t. President Bush was accused by the far-left of doing the same thing after the 9/11 attacks. I can only imagine my reaction and that of my fellow conservative bloggers if Barack Obama suspended part of the constitution during a national emergency of some sort.

Largely because of his untimely assassination, Abe Lincoln was spared complete scrutiny by historians and the media. In my humble non-historian opinion, Abe Lincoln was pretty much just another typical politician whose number one priority was probably – Abe Lincoln. Even according to mainstream historians, he was a master propagandist and a shrewd politician who wasn’t afraid of rolling in the mud to discredit and defeat his political opponents.

Like many of my fellow Americans, I’m not a baby who will fall apart at the suggestion that there’s no such thing as Santa Claus. I prefer to know the truth even if the truth will disappoint me. It’s about time that free people stop giving God-like status to political leaders. When we realize that they are pretty much just like us, we’ll be able to make better decisions. Decisions based on fact and reason rather than hope and emotion. If Ronald Reagan was a closet communist and a secret admirer of Karl Marx – I would want to know that. If he liked to wear Victoria’s Secret lingerie under his navy blue suit – I could give a damn.

Egypt:

Coptic Christians in the United States and Egypt don’t want Mubarak to step down, so that’s good enough for me. Even though Egypt’s Christians have long been under assault from the Muslim majority, they still seem to believe they are better off with Mubarak than some Muslim Brotherhood backed Mullah. Much of the mainstream media is still portraying the uprising in Egypt as a quest for democracy, but then again this is the same bunch that believes Islam is a religion of peace.

Obamacare:

The Obama administration had the chutzpah to call U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson a judicial activist after Judge Vinson ruled against the constitutionality of the main aspect of Obamacare. If that’s not a shinning example of the pot calling the kettle black…I’m sorry, did I just say something racist?

Snowstorms:

You gotta hand it to those progressives, when they hook on to a cause they don’t let a little thing called reality knock them off track. Al Gore is still claiming that global warming is responsible for this winter’s record snowfall. Being invested up to his eyeballs in the non-existent Green Economy, who can blame the bloated POS?

More NY smoking bans:

The New York City Council voted to ban smoking in parks and beaches; Head Nanny in Charge Michael Bloomberg is anxiously waiting to sign the bill into law. Smokers should band together and quit buying cigarettes for a couple of months. If anyone thinks the current NYC budget deficit is outrageous, just imagine what it would be without the largest cigarette tax in the country. The tax is $5.85 per pack – more than half the cost of the total price. Let Bloomberg, Sheldon Silver, and Andrew Cuomo find other sources of revenue to fund Medicaid and Food Stamps for anchor babies. As for all you anti-smoking Nazis, just wait until Bloomberg and company get around to your so-called vice. I assure you your turn is coming.

It’s become lost on the left-wing morons that comedy must contain a certain amount of truth in order for it to be funny – to make sense. Unfortunately, modern day comedy has become co-opted by political correctness just like everything else. As evident on the video, the humorless and joyless liberals are already up in arms over Mrs. Lawrence’s skit and are organizing a boycott.

What’s the difference between Ms. Giffords and the other 19 victims? That’s easy; Ms. Giffords is a member of congress – a Democrat member to boot!

While it’s true that the venue of the shooting was an event organized by the Congresswoman, and that she’s believed to be the intended target of the shooter, I believe there’s a more subtle reason why the all subsequent attention and concern is focused on her. I believe it has to do with Americas growing obsession, dependence, and admiration for…Government.

As we all know; according to the media and the Democrat Party, government is the central aspect of everyone’s life. Government is the mother. Government is the father. Government is the teacher. Government is the employer. On and on and on…..

To some, Congresswoman Giffords is us. An attack on Giffords is an attack on all Americans! I respectfully disagree. Giffords, or any other member of congress, or even the POTUS, are public servants; they work for us – the American people. Nothing personal, but I have no more respect for Giffords than I do for the average person on the street. It isn’t a sacrifice to be a member of congress. They weren’t drafted into service – they chose to pursue this path. Just as firefighters and policemen choose their profession – so do government officials. Giffords put herself out there because that’s part of her job. If she were entrenched in a lifetime district like her colleague Charlie Rangel, she probably wouldn’t have to step foot on the street, but she chose to put herself out there because she wants to keep her job – to get reelected.

The fact is that Congresswoman Giffords is still alive. By all medical accounts she is fully expected to survive. Christina Greene, age 9, Judge John Roll, age 63, Gabe Zimmerman, age 30, Phyllis Schneck, age 79, Dorwin Stoddard, age 76, and Dorothy Morris, age 76, are all deceased. There are also 13 other victims who were injured along with Congresswoman Giffords whose names and details of their injuries are not front page news. Excuse me if I don’t feel anymore sympathy for Congresswoman Giffords and her family than I do for all the other victims and their families. In spite of what the progressives and the mainstream media would have us believe, being an elected official doesn’t make one more important than everyone else.

I sincerely wish ALL of the victims of Jared Loughner and their families well. I also wish all the worst for Mr. Loughner. Slowly falling off into sleep by way of lethal injection is way too good for this piece of crap. But I don’t see a distinction between people who work for the government and people who don’t. In my experience, people who don’t work for government tend to be more independent, productive, motivated, rational, and sincere, but there’s good and bad in everyone.

Our Founding Fathers believed that man should no longer be subservient to Kings and Queens. The progressive/liberal movement has done its best to make man subservient once again. This time around it’s subservience to massive centralized governments run by intellectual elites who may as well be Kings and Queens. We should all try to retain a little perspective in regards to the horrific actions of a madman gone wild in Tucson, Arizona.

Talk about a Christmas miracle!

On another note, it’s great that the “flash-mob” acted with such speed and stealth as to not give some malcontent Muslim or atheist the chance to start bitching about being made to feel uncomfortable…boo hoo. I’m sure that Malls throughout the country are now on a high state of alert holding emergency meetings on how to deal with this potential problem.

What’s next…so-called moderate Muslims taking to the streets in protest of the radicals that make their religion seem so barbaric? Now that would really be a miracle!

• When you can’t get off a subway car because rude, ignorant people are blocking the doors and pushing to get in while you’re still trying to exit. I’ve adapted long ago by learning to use my rock hard elbows very well – thank you! When it comes to getting a seat on the subway, I’ve witnessed 75 year old grannies push through people with the same force as an NFL fullback. There are certain stations that are far worse than others when it comes to this behavior. Anyone who uses the # 7 train at Queensboro Plaza will know exactly what I mean.
• Television campaign commercials featuring politicians supposedly listening intently to constituents while nodding their heads in agreement and actually making eye contact. We all know the reality is that the vast majority of politicians talk and don’t listen. We also know that when they do have to come out and meet with the unwashed, they shake your hand for half a second while looking forward and never making eye contact.
• People blasting their car stereos so loud that you can actually feel the floor in your home shaking from the bass. I also love when they double park their cars to run into a store, but leave the windows down and the stereo full blast so they could hear it while they’re in the store – I guess?
• When people willingly choose to pursue a certain profession then incessantly bitch for the rest of their lives about not being recognized for the work they do, and for being underpaid. There’s a certain profession that stands head and shoulders above all the rest when it comes to this irritating behavior. Without going into specifics, let’s just say that this profession is represented by a very powerful union.
• People riding their bikes on busy city sidewalks. Quite frankly, bike riders (particularly in NYC) usually annoy the hell out of me! The bikers don’t seem to be obligated to follow any traffic rules. Unlike pedestrians, they can ride in the street, but unlike cars, they can also go on the sidewalk. They don’t have to stop on red, and they don’t have to follow one-way traffic rules. In NYC, you’re much more likely to get hit by a bike than by a car. I wish some of them would use the stupid bike lanes that our broke city has spent millions of dollars on at the expense of car lanes and parking spaces.
• People who wear shorts and flip-flops during the fall and winter months. Today it was in the mid-fifties and rainy in NYC, but I still see morons wearing shorts and flip-flops while also wearing hoods over their heads. Flip-flops on the subway also don’t sit well with me; especially when worn by men. To me, this not only shows a lack of taste, but also shows a total lack of preparedness. If anything should happen on the subway system it’s pretty darn hard to move quickly and efficiently wearing flip-flops. But hey, that just me!
• Television commercials where every single race, culture, and creed known to man has to be represented. This diversity crap has really gone way too far! Are companies really so afraid that they’ll be run out of business if one color of the rainbow is excluded from one little commercial? Hey corporate America…you don’t have to have an Eskimo in your sunscreen commercials. For God’s sake – you’re still allowed to be realistic once in a while! By the way, where are the Muslims in TV commercials? Hmmm…
• Politicians constantly referring to other politicians as their friends. The problem is that they probably are all friends! It’s a problem because we don’t send representatives to Congress or State and City legislatures to befriend other politicians. We send them there to represent our values. Congress isn’t supposed to be a freakin summer camp for lawyers! I personally don’t like Marxists who want to run my life and curtail my freedoms and opportunities; I take that personally. I want my representatives to also take it personally, and to soundly defeat them!
• When a group of people walk together 4 or 5 across on the sidewalk and expect you to walk into the street to get around them.  Most sidewalks in the five Boroughs of NYC are not that wide, so people need to use courtesy and common sense when using them. I guess some people just think they’re special.
• Immigrants who come to this country (Legally & Illegally) and immediately start bitching about being discriminated against, not liked, feeling unwelcome, feeling uncomfortable, etc. Who the hell held guns to their heads and forced them to come here? I also hate the fact that ATM machines have a list of five or six languages to choose from. Don’t get me started with “press one to continue in English.” Potential immigrants: please don’t come to this country if you’re going to immediately bitch and whine, or if you’re immediately going to sign up for some government program. We already have more than enough malcontents and freeloaders of our own!

There…I feel just a little bit better already!

A few months ago I stumbled upon a so-called conservative blog through the blogroll of another blog. I couldn’t believe my eyes at what I was seeing on my monitor. No, not the content, but the spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc. This “conservative” would be hard pressed to pass a 5^th grade English or writing course if his life depended on it. Quiet frankly, I haven’t witnessed writing this bad since I last read one of Joe Biden’s college term papers.

I never claimed that Liberals have a monopoly on stupidity!

The funny thing is that this guy doesn’t seem to have a clue as to how bad he is; how he’s embarrassing himself every time he lays his fingers on the keyboard. Even his about section is littered with mistakes! His posts are usually on the long side with no separation between paragraphs, while his attempts at humor fall flatter than a stale pancake on a concrete floor. With all this going for him, the fool still frequently gets more than 15 to 20 comments per post; all of who seem to think he’s the reincarnation of William F. Buckley. I have yet to see a single comment where someone takes him to task for his butchering of the English language and written word. Maybe he just deletes those – I really don’t know.

I do know that when yours truly misspells one little word, I get snarky messages pointing out my screw-up.

Maybe there’s a method to this clown’s madness because I seem to be hooked on going back to his site almost daily to read his disjointed posts in total disbelief. I’ve yet to be disappointed. He delivers comical incompetence each and every time! I even got my wife addicted to the carnage. I can only compare it to people who are sickened at the sight of a gory accident, yet can’t seem to turn their eyes away from the scene.

I am by no means saying that I have the writing skills of Ernest Hemmingway – I don’t. I have no formal training or special education that would make a person believe he could write. I do my best to not embarrass myself, my point of view, and my fellow bloggers who are linked to me. As I’ve stated previously, I blog to take pressure off my spleen and to ensure that I don’t go postal.

If the blogger I’m referring to was really big, (obviously an impossibility) the other side would pounce on his posts as clear examples of the ignorance of conservatives. Jon Stewart, Keith Olbermann, and Rachael Maddow would probably dedicate daily segments highlighting this dope’s incoherent scribble while mocking the intelligence of cousin-marrying, trailer-living, red-necked conservatives.

I truly wish that this guy’s wife, girlfriend, mother, aunt, cat, … anybody, would gently but firmly tell him the cold hard truth in order to prevent further embarrassment to himself, his family, every school he attended, and to bloggers in general. He’s in dire need of an intervention!

In spite of having a $5 billion dollar budget deficit for 2010, NYC has somehow managed to find funds to create new fields with state of the art artificial turf often covering what used to be asphalt or cement covered parks traditionally used for softball. No expense is spared for illegal immigrants and their offspring! I’ve noticed at least three such fields in my neighborhood and the adjoining one. Although these fields are still outfitted to accommodate baseball and softball, they are now almost exclusively being used to play soccer.

For the sake of full disclosure, I admit that I despise soccer almost as much as I do Barney Frank!

The thing about these fields is that a group couldn’t get together for a softball or baseball game even if they wanted to. Unless it’s 20 degrees or raining cats and dogs, the fields are consistently filled with soccer players of mostly Hispanic origin. I know, I know, I’m a racist xenophobe for noticing such things! Today I passed a beautiful new field in Long Island City that would make many minor league baseball players envious. This field has the authentic grass looking artificial turf along with dimensions that have to be damn close to many major league ballparks. I noticed that there were two soccer games going on at the same time. No room for baseball/softball, frisbee, touch football, or just a simple game of catch.

For decades now, the snooty liberal elites and the one-world/new-world order types have been trying to shove soccer down the throats of the American public. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people, often with foreign accents, say in one way or another that Americans are stupid, dumb, ignorant, etc. because they don’t like or support soccer. If one enjoys soccer, excuse me…football or futball, that’s no skin off my nose, but don’t tell me that I have to like it! Don’t tell me that I’m not cosmopolitan or worldly enough to understand the game! I think that I can speak for many Americans when I say that I will not be browbeaten into liking a sport simply because it’s politically correct to do so!

Is it any wonder that MLB baseball scouts have to scour the entire world in order to import players to the major leagues? I guess American kids aren’t that interested in making a gazillion dollars playing baseball for seven or eight months out of the year. The fact is that the liberal elite establishment and the internationalists have managed to slowly embed soccer into American culture. Throughout the country (and especially in NYC and its suburbs) little league baseball is slowly going the way of the Dodo Bird, and being replaced by soccer. I know that I’ll probably anger some parents (too bad!) by saying this, but soccer is easy. Soccer is the quintessential feel-good, self-esteem builder for impatient children and their parents. When the ball comes in front of little Frankie, he kicks it. Hooray for Frankie, he kicked the ball! It’s much easier than trying to hit a baseball; Frankie feels bad when he swings and misses. It crushes his ever threatened self-esteem.

Massive illegal immigration and the anchor babies that go along with it, is also another reason why New York City’s baseball/softball fields and schoolyards have been invaded and conquered by soccer players. It’s just too damn bad for anyone who doesn’t like witnessing this phenomenon because in today’s America we must love all other cultures without question for fear of being branded racists or bigots. This includes the religions, wardrobes, sports, customs, and cuisines that accompany those cultures.

There was a story not too long ago out of Britain; you know…the Britain that is on the brink of becoming a Muslim nation and losing its long held identity due to its suicidal obsession with political correctness. Anyway, the British government warned British parents that their children’s hesitation or defiance to try food from different cultures can be the first signs that they may grow up to become racists.  How long will it be before you’ll be called a racist for not liking soccer? I’m sure that’s already happening, and I’m sure that I’ll be accused myself. I’m also sure I’ll get some Soccer Mom hate mail as well.
