“I feel bad for the people who are laid off, but I have to take care of my shit too!”

Friday evening I found myself on a Queens underground subway platform waiting for the E train. At that late hour the trains seem to come as frequently as Haley’s Comet so I started to pace back and forth across the platform in a futile effort to pass the time. After a while I noticed an MTA employee on the opposite platform using some sort of a buffing machine to clean the floor.

The man was pushing the machine back and forth squirting liquid over the filthy floor, and then using the circular brushes to spread and scrub the detergent in. I then noticed that there was a man sleeping on a nearby bench with his feet dangling on to the floor. I thought it amusing when the bravely meticulous MTA worker actually woke the man up to ask him to lift his feet so he could clean that area. Surprisingly, the man complied immediately without a problem.

Suddenly another MTA worker came down the stairs at the end of the platform and approached the worker who was cleaning the floors. They greeted each other then went into a conversation that I was able to hear word for word due to the quiet emptiness of the station. Not having anything better to do, I listened closely.

After some initial small-talk, the second MTA employee asked the guy working the machine if he would be agreeable to an idea where current MTA employees would give $5 a week to go for MTA employees who have been laid off. The man explained that they (I’m guessing MTA union) were asking around to see how others felt about the proposal. He explained that it would amount to a $10 deduction per bi-weekly paycheck.

I could see by the body language of the first guy that he wasn’t crazy about the idea. He took several seconds before he gave this ineloquent yet straight forward answer which I immediately stored into my Smartphone.

“I feel bad for the people who are laid off, but I have to take care of my shit too!”

I guess the second guy took it as a no, and walked back up the stairs and out of sight. The first guy cleaning the platform shot me a quick look; the kind of look when you realize that someone may have been listening to your conversation. I nonchalantly stared towards the tunnel pretending to be oblivious.

So much for looking out for your fellow union members! I was a lot more amused than I was surprised.

Recently I spotted something while riding through my neighborhood on the elevated subway that made me do a double take. In many parts of the country a person wouldn’t even give this a second thought, but for NYC it’s the equivalent of spotting a polar bear swimming on Miami Beach.

Completely covering three large windows on three separate units of a new apartment building were the following flags:

You have to understand that the American flag is almost as rare as the Dodo Bird in this city. Sure, you’ll easily spot just about every flag from around the globe, (especially from the third world) but the American flag – no way!

Then there’s the Gadsden flag (don’t tread on me) which has sort of become the unofficial flag of the Tea Party movement. There may be plenty of teabaggers in my neighborhood, but Tea Partiers – can’t be!

Last but not least, there’s the United States Marine Corps (not corpse) flag. In NYC appreciation for the military is comparable to appreciation of a good shower in France. You may still be able to spot this flag in the window of VFW hall, but in the window of a building inhabited by yuppies – impossible!

Maybe, just maybe, some “professional” young people are beginning to wake up from their higher education and media induced stupors. Maybe they’re beginning to realize that their expensive educations won’t be worth crap if our government continues down this path. Maybe they’re pissed off that their company provided healthcare benefits will soon be history. Maybe they’re getting a bit frustrated at how their six-figure salaries don’t look so great after the Feds, State, and City get their taste. Maybe they’ve come to the point where they’re starting to question the utopian fairy tales of their Woodstock attending, Birkenstock wearing parents, and are waking up to reality.

I know that it sounds like I’m going off the deep end over three flags, but you have to live here to appreciate the magnitude of such a sighting. I’ll tell you one thing – I didn’t see these flags a year ago!

Last night I tuned into the Fox Business Network at 8pm to watch John Stossel’s new show aptly titled “Stossel.”

The show discussed the influence of the late author Ayn Rand and her classic novel Atlas Shrugged. The book was first published in 1957 and accurately portrayed the consequences of an ever powerful and out of control central government. The fictional story and its characters eerily represent what is currently happening in our country – almost to a tee.

I read the book and am pretty familiar with Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism. The older I get, the more I find myself agreeing with many of Rand’s views. Rand was also an atheist, and I disagree with her wholeheartedly on that point. I understand her problem with organized religion, but man’s shortcomings don’t negate the existence of a “creator.”

As usual, Stossel fills the audience with people from all political viewpoints. There were many people who supported Rand’s philosophy. Most of them now refer to themselves as Libertarians in lieu of Objectivists. Then there were the typical intellectually lazy lemmings that are usually referred to as liberals. There was a group of young guys (perhaps college students, or recent graduates) who were adamantly against the Rand philosophy. In opposing Rand, these dorks raised the predictable liberal talking points in favor of big government. Some of their arguments were so pathetic that it was embarrassing to listen to. They also attempted to slime Rand’s personal life; a predictable tool of the left-wing statist.

Anyway, the show will be replayed tonight at 10pm and is very much worth watching. The panel on the show is excellent, and they make great arguments for limited government and personal liberty. It was basically Reason vs. Emotionalism, and Reason always wins.

By definition, a true centrist would have a rating near 50 plus or minus a couple of points. Using this definition, Nebraska’s Ben Nelson is the only Democrat Senator who comes close with a 47.26 lifetime rating. The next closest senate Democrat to that center 50 mark is Florida’s Bill Nelson with a 37.28 lifetime rating.

What do centrist Democrats have in common with the Sasquatch?

That’s an easy one; they’re both mythical creatures that don’t exist in reality.

During the recent congressional debates over Healthcare and Cap and Trade, we’ve heard from both Liberal and Conservative pundits about the importance of centrist or moderate democrats in passing these controversial pieces of legislation. The Liberal pundits most likely know that there’s no such thing as centrist Democrats. The Conservatives are either ignorant of reality or suffer from wishful thinking.

The names most mentioned during these fantasies are: Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Evan Bayh of Indiana, and Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.

The American Conservative Union is a conservative organization (of course) which is known for rating members of congress on their voting records. Since it’s a conservative organization, their ratings reflect how conservative a particular member of congress is. The highest rating one can receive is 100 – the lowest is 0. For example; South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint received a perfect 100 rating for 2008. His lifetime rating during his 10 years of service is 98.4, which is also the highest lifetime rating of any senator.

Some other notables are James Inhofe and Tom Coburn both from Oklahoma, with lifetime ratings of 97.5 and 97.8 respectively.

Now let’s take a look at the ACU ratings of the mythical centrist Democrats that we’ve all heard so much about. Note: the latest year complied by the ACU is 2008.

The only number that comes close to portraying a “centrist” is Ben Nelson’s 47.26 lifetime rating. However, the number to look at is his 16 for 2008. His numbers for 2007 aren’t available, but it’s telling that in the last year that Republicans controlled the Senate (2006) his rating is 64. This tells you that Nelson is an opportunist whose votes shift depending on which party holds the majority at a given time.

Notice Joe Lieberman’s pathetic ratings. This is the guy that many conservative talk show hosts and cable networks like to portray as a “conservative” or “moderate” Democrat simply because he supported Bush in regards to the war in Iraq.

On the Republican side, everyone can agree that the centrists/moderates are Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine, and Arlen Specter who switched parties earlier this year, but has a 28 year record as a Republican. Specter has a lifetime rating of 44.47, while Snowe has a lifetime rating of 47.88 and Collins a 49.55.

It makes perfect sense to refer to Snowe, Collins, and Specter as centrists, (I like to refer to them as other things) but you really can’t find any on the Democrat side.

So how do these so-called Democrat centrists (including the blue dogs in the house) get away with it? That’s easy; it’s called double-talk and voter ignorance. Liberals like Barbara Boxer, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi are actually more sincere than the phony centrists. They say the same things whether they’re in Washington or in their home states and districts. The Democrat centrists play a game where they speak and act like moderates or even conservatives when they’re on their home turf, then go to Washington and vote with the hard left.

Whether it’s Cap and Trade, Healthcare, or Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants, Landrieu, Lincoln, Bayh, and Lieberman will probably be solid votes for the left-wing Democrats. As far as Ben Nelson, it depends on polling data and which party has majority at the time the votes come up. A real principled fellow – that Ben Nelson.

Does this mean that we don’t have a chance at beating back Obamacare or Cap and trade? As far as Obamacare, I believe that some form of it will likely pass. Whatever it is, you can rest assured that it’ll be bad. Cap and Trade and Amnesty will depend largely on polling numbers and when the legislation comes up. At this particular time, with this particular political climate, I don’t believe that Democrats will bring those issues up in an election year (2010). It also depends on conservatives, libertarians, and concerned independents keeping the heat on the Obama administration and the congress.

If we snooze – we lose.

Thursday night (Nov. 19th) “comedian” George Lopez was a guest on the CNN Headline News program hosted by that brilliant political commentator and all-around scholar, Joy Behar. As usual, the topic was Sarah Palin. Talk about obsession! As they have shown in the past, the Liberals aren’t quite satisfied with only trashing Sarah Palin; they feel a need to trash the entire Palin family.

This time, the idiotic dope, George Lopez went after Ms. Palin’s husband Todd. This moron falsely claimed that Todd Palin is a “stay at home dad” and said that when he was a kid, “those guys were called bums.” Never letting the facts get in the way of her stupidity and left-wing politics, Behar agreed by saying “uh-huh – they’re still called bums.”

The fact of the matter is that Todd Palin not only works on an oil rig for BP Oil Company, but also works as a commercial salmon fisherman. I’d bet my bottom dollar that Todd Palin has worked more hours in one year than Behar and Lopez have in their whole miserable lives!

_______________________________________________________________

MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell was supposedly covering a Sarah Palin book signing event in Michigan when she spotted a teenager wearing an anti-tarp tee-shirt. The pathetic and cowardly O’Donnell pounced on the girl like Rosie O’Donnell pounces on a snickers bar. After snidely reading the tee-shirt, O’Donnell then attempts to get into a debate with the teenager over Sarah Palin’s stance on TARP.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Is that what reporters are supposed to do? Get into political debates with private citizens while covering news stories!

Ms. O’Donnell tried to browbeat the young woman into admitting that Palin was a staunch supporter of TARP. She also tried to imply that the girl was ignorant and ill-informed about Palin and politics in general. All in all, the teenager held her own against the bully.

I wonder if Norah O’Donnell would have questioned the pathetically ignorant Peggy Joseph who believed that Obama would pay for her gasoline and mortgage once he got elected. This arrogant twit should visit howobamagotelected.com and watch the embarrassingly ignorant Obama voters trying to answer simple questions about the election and their candidate. And Fox News Channel isn’t a real news organization? What a bunch of slimy hypocrites!

_______________________________________________________________

Last week a 10 year old spoiled brat from West Fork, Arkansas by the name of Will Phillips made news by refusing to stand and recite the pledge of allegiance during his elementary school class. CNN’s John Roberts conducted an interview with the little punk. Roberts was all atwitter at the reasons for the kid’s disrespectful and boorish behavior. Watch the video and weep for our country’s future.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Not only is this kid ignorant about the constitution, but he’s already pompous and arrogant at the tender age of ten. If he does become a lawyer these traits may serve him well, but for a 10 year old it’s disgusting! Are we that dumb that we’re supposed to believe that his parents didn’t put this leftist garbage into his head? Please…….the parents also knew that this would cause a controversy and that they would inevitably wind up on TV. Maybe they’ll even be offered a reality show on A&E.

After this incident became public, I heard numerous morons call up talk-radio applauding the brat for his “courageous stance.” Many of them claimed that he was just a kid and that people should refrain from criticizing him. The fact that he’s a kid is what makes this so disturbing! A 10 year old should be a 10 year old. There’ll be plenty of time for left-wing politics when he goes to college. Also, the fact that he already thinks he knows it all at this young age only goes to show the extreme effects of the hyper self-esteem philosophy taught in our public school system. In today’s society we seem to kowtow to children and idiots. We have allowed the ignorant and dumb to basically run our country - run it right into the ground!

_______________________________________________________________

When it was announced last week that the Obama administration would bring KSM and four other murderous Islamic jihadists to New York City for a civilian trial, most people who have their heads screwed on correctly raised objection to this idiotic scheme. Not surprisingly, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg came out in support of the plan. He pooh-poohed the safety concerns regarding the trial and boasted about the “readiness” of the city to deal with the massive security that will be needed.

Many people calling local talk-radio were wracking their brains tying to think of a logical reason why Bloomberg would go along with this disaster.

They were missing the obvious.

Whenever you can’t figure out a reason for a decision made by Bloomberg – just think about Bloomberg – that’s what he does. In spite of all his histrionics, Bloomberg always thinks about Bloomberg first. Everything and everyone else is a distant second.

Bloomberg, who got the NY City Council to overturn the city’s term-limit laws just so he could run for a third term, is obviously running for president in 2012. By that time he will only have one year left before he has to vacate the Mayor’s office, so he’ll have to find another venue for running people’s lives. What’s a better way to get national face-time than to conduct daily (if not hourly) press conferences all the way through the KSM trial? If nothing happens during the trial, Bloomberg will tout his brilliant skills as a strategist and leader. On the other hand, if a jihadist nut or two sneak through and mange to detonate a couple of bombs, then Bloomberg can finally have his “Giuliani moment.” Either way, Bloomberg believes that Bloomberg will come out smelling like a rose.

After, Bloomberg will run a mostly self-financed third-party campaign for president and accomplish nothing more than getting Barack Hussein Obama re-elected with about 40% of the vote.

I truly hope that I’m wrong, but I have yet to be so in regards to Michael Bloomberg.

Last week during the aftermath of the runaway balloon fiasco, I was tuned into the Sean Hannity show when an internal debate emerged between Hannity and his staff. Hannity’s staff was pretty much convinced that the whole balloon boy episode was a hoax, while Hannity was steadfast in the belief that it was legit. The reasons that Hannity gave for his opinion didn’t make much sense to me. He rambled on about what a great “story” this was, and even fantasized about how great it would have been if the boy emerged from the balloon once it landed. What?

Sean Hannity seems like a very nice guy and a good conservative – but boy can he sometimes be naive!

Almost anyone with half a brain could smell a rat with this story almost from the get-go. Once the balloon landed and there was no kid, and once they started interviewing the wacko parents, it was even more obvious that this was a sick ploy publicity stunt.

As the days passed and details began to emerge, it became more and more clear that Richard and Mayumi Heene had meticulously planned this hoax using their innocent children as props to pull the heartstrings of naïve parents such as Sean Hannity. It seems that many people will fall for anything as long as there are cute children involved. These people operate from the simple-minded premise that no parent would ever use their own children for personal gain. I contend that children are used as pawns for various reasons much more often than people would like to admit.

Anyway, the Heene’s story seemed to unravel as soon as they opened their stupid traps and began doing interviews with the press. Their six year old son Falcon, who was at the center of the hoax, threw up twice during interviews on Good Morning America and the Today Show. Who the hell knows why the boy was puking his guts out? Maybe it was the pressure of being forced to lie on national TV, or perhaps even from being given some sort of sedative in order to keep him quiet while the authorities were searching the Heene residence looking for him. As most of us are aware, the boy was supposedly hiding in a cardboard box in the garage. Could a six year old have stayed in a box that long and remained totally silent?

Click here to view the embedded video.

Falcon also tripped-up during an interview with CNN and gave an honest answer when he was supposed to lie for his pathetic parents. When the interviewer asked the parents if they were calling Falcon when they realized he was missing, Richard Heene turned to his son and asked him if he heard them calling him. The boy responded by saying that he did. Then the idiot father, quite confident that he trained the boy properly, asked him why he didn’t come out when they called him. The boy answered by saying “you guys said we did this for the show.”

Click here to view the embedded video.

Richard and Mayumi Heene are reality television star wannabes. They have already appeared on some dumb show called Wife-Swap, and they’re obviously not satisfied with stopping there. Oh-no…..they want to follow in the footsteps of the disgusting Octomom and the moronic Jon & Kate Plus 8, who also use children as tools to make easy money.

Reality television has become a springboard for lazy and shameless losers with no talent to attain fame and financial rewards. The networks love this programming because these shows are much cheaper to produce than the traditional sitcoms and dramas. It’s one thing if adults want to participate in reality shows and make buffoons of themselves, but it’s quite another thing to involve innocent children who have little or no choice in participating.

According to the latest developments, “authorities” have said that felony charges against Richard and Mayumi Heene are likely to be filed. I can only imagine the circus that will follow the impending legal proceedings. I’d bet that in the end, Richard Heene will take the brunt of the punishment while his wife Mayumi will probably be portrayed as a victim along with the children. I can also envision a book and/or a TV movie coming out of all this with Mayumi Heene raking in the money while Richard perhaps serves some time in the slammer.

The Heene’s wanted to be reality TV stars. It now looks like they’ll get their wish, albeit in a much different venue than they had planned.

Lately, another term has joined this infamous list. The term is Birther.

In order to qualify as a Birther, one must question whether or not our President, Barack Hussein Obama is a “natural born” citizen of the United States, and therefore constitutionally eligible to serve as President.

This phenomenon began during the 2008 Democrat primaries and has snowballed during the first seven and a half months of the Obama presidency. The “Birthers” main argument is based on the fact that Barack Obama has yet to release his original long-form birth certificate. The controversy was amplified early on when “Obama’s people” released what they called his birth certificate and posted it on his website. The document actually turned out to be a “certificate of live birth” and not an official birth certificate. When this ruse was pointed out, the Obama people took it off of the website.

For several months now, the Conservative website WorldNetDaily has dedicated most of its coverage to the birth certificate controversy. It has highlighted the various lawsuits over the issue, as well as the people who have been vocal in calling for the president to release his birth certificate. WorldNetDaily has pretty much been the lone wolf in reporting on this ongoing controversy.

For a long time, the corrupt mainstream media has pretty much just ignored the story completely. Just within the past month or so, they have finally started to talk about this issue, albeit in a very narrow scope. Predictably, the media has used this issue to show how hateful and racist those whacky conservatives are. The stories that they run are filled with mocking sarcasm usually relegated towards people who claim to have been abducted by space aliens.

Much like the mainstream media, the “conservative media” (Fox News, talk radio, conservative pundits and authors) has pretty much tried to ignore the story as well. More recently, many in the conservative media have come out and tried to distance themselves from the issue and the people who are pushing it. Bill O’Reilly has recently poh-pohed the issue and even went as far as to claim that he had investigated the charges months ago and found them to have no merit. What O’Reilly leaves out is the facts from his investigation, and his reasons for considering the charges to be baseless. What happened to “we report – you decide?”

Other “conservatives” who have spoken out and tried to distance themselves from the Birthers are Sean Hannity, John Gibson, Michael Medved, Glenn Beck, and even Ann Coulter.

Glenn Beck and others have said that even if it were proven true that Obama was not a natural born citizen, it wouldn’t matter because he would never be thrown out of office anyway. What………..?

Yeah Glenn, I’m sure that most American people would be OK with the president lying to the whole country about his place of birth!

I fail to understand the logic behind some conservative thinking which claims that Obama is a liar and is deceiving the American people about his intentions and his true beliefs. They claim that Obama has consistently lied about his associations with Anti-American radicals such as William Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, and Rev. Jeremiah Wright. They claim that Obama has lied about his intentions and aspirations for a “single-payer” healthcare system. They claim that Obama is being dishonest about his affinity for Socialism. Yet, these same conservatives somehow believe that he would draw the line in lying about his birth and/or eligibility.

Go figure……

President Obama is the most secretive president in the history of our nation. We really know very little about his life and beliefs before he became a public figure. We don’t know anything about his college days at Occidental, Columbia and Harvard. We don’t have access to any articles, papers, or opinions he has written, even though he was the editor of the renowned Harvard Law Review. We don’t have access to his files from his days as an Illinois State Senator, and we don’t have his medical records. President Obama has systematically blocked the media from all access of information regarding his past. Not that the mainstream media is really that interested anyway.

Last, but not least, President Obama has steadfastly refused to release his original long-form birth certificate that supposedly proves he was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. In fact, he has spent close to a million dollars in legal fees to fight lawsuits and to block people from viewing his birth certificate. It’s also a bit strange that the media doesn’t seem that interested in where the money for these legal fees is coming from. Is he using his own personal funds? Is he using money from one of his PACs? Who is paying these legal fees?

I can easily understand why the American-left wouldn’t care about Obama’s eligibility. I’m smart enough to realize that they don’t give a rat’s behind about our constitution. In fact, they despise our constitution and would be very happy if it were scrapped. What sort of baffles me is the refusal of most of the “conservative media” to treat this issue seriously. It actually seems like they’re somewhat embarrassed that some conservatives and constitutionalists are talking about this. It’s kind of like being embarrassed over your eccentric uncle’s belief in the existence of Big-Foot, the Mothman, and the Loch Ness Monster.

What possible reason would Obama have in not releasing it and making fools of all the “whackos” who have been pushing the issue? Why wouldn’t Obama love to ruin the credibility of the hated right-wing WorldNetDaily? None of the people who mock the Birthers have come up with a reasonable explanation to these questions.

Remember when the Bush and Obama administrations and their cronies claimed that GM was too big to fail, that we (the taxpayers) had to save this iconic company from bankruptcy? After giving GM roughly 10 billion dollars of bailout money, they have now gone into bankruptcy anyway! Why is bankruptcy acceptable now as opposed to late 2008 and earlier this year? The answer is simple; Obama knew that GM would have to eventually file for bankruptcy, but he gave them the billions in order for him to have an excuse to take the company over. If GM would have filed for bankruptcy before taking government money, they would have been free to restructure the company as they saw fit. Now that they’re owned by Obama and the UAW, GM has to tow the line. They have to make the cars Obama wants made, and they have to close the plants Obama wants closed. The American taxpayer paid the bill so Obama and the Marxists could take over and run one of the oldest and largest corporations in American history. Fascism here we come!

____________________________________________________________________

If only the stock market or horse racing were as easy to predict as the liberal media, I would be the richest man in the world. After abortion doctor George Tiller was shot and killed by a wacko last Sunday, the leftist morons in the media predictably started blaming the usual suspects. They blamed talk-radio, conservatives, George Bush, Dick Cheney, and Fox News. The vile Keith Olbermann went on a rant blaming the Fox News Channel for the doctor’s death. He even went as far as to suggest that Fox should be boycotted and taken off the air! Gee, do you think Fox’s ratings in comparison to MSNBC’s could have anything to do with it?

A day after Dr. Tiller was murdered, there was another murder just as despicable, if not more so. A Muslim convert known as Hakim Mujahid Muhammad shot two U.S. soldiers at a Little Rock, Arkansas recruiting station. Pvt. William Long, 23, was killed, and Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, was wounded. The low-life convert to the religion of peace was supposedly upset over the United States treatment of Muslims, and decided to take revenge on the military. Surprise – surprise, the left-wing media barely covered the story, and even more surprising, they didn’t blame all of the anti-war, anti-military left-wing for inciting the murder. They didn’t blame their colleague Keith Olbermann for years of hateful anti-war, anti-Bush diatribes!

After the killing of Dr. Tiller, Obama immediately put out a statement. He said; “I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.” However, Obama has yet to make a statement about the murder of a U.S. soldier on our homeland by a Muslim terrorist! I guess it just wouldn’t be prudent to upset the Muslims just before going to the Middle East to kiss their butts and apologize for America.

____________________________________________________________________

Sacrifice is one of the buzzwords that our beloved leader Barak Hussein Obama loves to use. We constantly hear about having to “sacrifice” for the greater good. When recently speaking about the GM bankruptcy, he once again told us that we would have to sacrifice for our children and grandchildren. Obama has told “greedy executives” that they have to sacrifice; that the days of taking private jets to Las Vegas were over. As I’ve stated before on this blog, it seems like the federal government is the only entity in today’s America that doesn’t have to make any sacrifices – they never have to do with less. This past weekend, our merciful leader and his lovely wife decided to take a plane, a helicopter, and a limousine to New York City in order to go out to dinner and see a Broadway show. Obama said that he was fulfilling a promise he made to Michelle during the campaign. Oh how sweeeeeeeeet………. Predictably, the moronic sheep dining at the Blue Hill restaurant gave the lovely couple a standing ovation when they walked in. If I had been there, I would have told the manager that I just lost my appetite, and I would have walked the hell out!

We all remember the media reaction when it was learned that the Republican National Committee paid 150 grand for Sarah Palin’s wardrobe during the 2008 campaign. They were all outraged over this extravagant expenditure even though not a cent of it came from taxpayers. Now, the same bunch of hypocrites are gaga over the President taking his wife out on a taxpayer funded date while he’s asking everyone else to sacrifice. The arrogance of this President is just mind-blowing!

_____________________________________________________________________

This past Tuesday, New Jersey held its Republican Primary for the upcoming Governor’s race. In a state known for its bad drivers and political corruption, it’s no surprise that they once again made the wrong choice. The Republicans of New Jersey chose moderate Republican Chris Christie over conservative Steve Lonegan. Christie, a former U.S. Attorney with very little executive experience, was aggressively supported by the republican establishment. Rudy Giuliani, Steve Forbes, Mitt Romney, and most local “conservative” talk radio hosts backed the bland and inexperienced Christie. Lonegan, a three term mayor of the town of Bogota, who is a former small business owner, was supported by real small government conservatives, as well as by libertarians such as Ron Paul.

One of the major issues of this primary campaign was taxes. The Chris Christie campaign ran tons of ads accusing Lonegan of wanting to raise taxes on the people of New Jersey. Like its mentor New York, New Jersey has one of the highest state income taxes in the country, with the highest rate topping off at close to 9%. Steve Lonegan actually proposed a “flat” state income tax of 2.9%. For this bold and unprecedented move, Lonegan was attacked by Christie and the establishment for proposing to raise income taxes for New Jersey. You see, some people at the very low end of the income brackets now pay les than 2.9% in income taxes. The Christie campaign also suggested that Lonegan’s plan would hurt the middle class and seniors. Doesn’t this sound a lot like Democrat talking points?

The Republican establishment has vilified the first attempt at instating the flat tax and chucking the evil “progressive income tax.” This race highlighted why tax reform in this country will be near impossible. The establishment Republicans sided with the liberals in defending the status quo in regards to the burdensome and immoral tax code. Steve Forbes, who ran for the Republican nomination for president twice on the flat tax, turned his back on both Lonegan and the flat tax.

Though I don’t know much about Chris Christie, (nobody does) I have a sixth sense for sniffing out “liberal” and “moderate” Republicans. I predict Christie will become exactly like another “Christie” that was once Governor of New Jersey. I’m of course, referring to Christie Todd Whitman, who was the last “Republican” governor of New Jersey. Like Chris Christie, Whitman campaigned as a “conservative”, only to show her true colors when she finally got elected. This is a shame considering that the current Governor of New Jersey, the despicable Jon Corzine is actually vulnerable. I predict that Christie will now campaign as a centrist-moderate in the general election, and lose to Corzine! The Republican Party never seems to learn the lessons of history. They are so defensive, so weak in their convictions, so concerned about the media liking them, that they have become nothing but piñata for the liberal Democrats. This was a blown chance to let a true outspoken conservative take on a true leftist liberal in the national spotlight. Instead, the establishment of the Republican Party took the easy way out, and will once again miss a great opportunity.

This past weekend, New York City got a powerful sneak preview of the impending summer. Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday reached into the mid to high eighties, with more of the same forecasted for today and throughout the coming week. Almost everyone I hear; whether it’s people I know, some schlep on the street, or the idiots in the media, all seem to be ecstatically psyched over this late April heat-wave. One of the few people in NYC that actually dreads this phenomenon is yours truly!

I can understand if you have a summer home in the Hamptons directly on the beach, but 90 degrees in New York City – during the month of April – give me a break!

Every year, when the hot weather hits NYC, certain things start to happen; things that only make living in NYC more difficult, more annoying, and more unpleasant to the senses. For instance, when the temperatures rise to a certain level, the streets, roads, and highways seem to erupt with traffic. It sometimes seems like the approximately 8 million people suddenly morph into 16 million! It’s like all of these people seem to come out of some type of hibernation.

I don’t know about anyone else, but taking a Sunday drive on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in sweltering temperatures, going at a steady 3 miles per hour, isn’t my idea of fun. Yet, the roads to nowhere seem to explode with automobiles during hottest weather. If you’re traveling by car around NYC, it will take you at least twice as long to get to your destination during the summer as it would during the rest of the year; that’s why driving in NYC during the colder months of the year is much less stressful.

Another unpleasant experience during the hot weather in NYC is traveling on the subway. First of all, the air-conditioning seems to only work in 50% of the cars. The MTA, being in a perpetual state of fiscal collapse isn’t keen on turning the AC on in April. The other unpleasant issue of riding the Subway during this type of weather is the constant attack on ones olfactory organ. Many people in NYC have yet to discover the existence of deodorant! Some, even believe that cheap colongne is a substitute for a daily shower. This issue is aggravated by the vast amount of immigrants from the third-world (most of whom are here illegally) who seem to flock to our once great metropolis. These people are so used to the filthy, dirty, and unsanitary conditions of their countries of origin that they seem to be immune to the vile stench of BO.

Then, there’s my personal pet peeve regarding summertime in NYC. I’m talking about the clothes, or lack thereof, of people walking the city streets. The second the temperatures reach a certain level, many people seem to want to shed most of their clothes. It also seems that the people who should least want to show off their bodies, are the first ones who so enthusiastically do so. People just don’t seem to know how to dress appropriately for their age and body-type anymore. You have the middle aged women baring their flabby midriffs for all to see. They wear clothing that is way too tight for their bloated physiques; showing off all of their fat rolls, as well as the dreaded love handles or muffin-tops that protrude 8 inches over their overly tight pants! It’s not only the older women though; plump young girls in their early teens also seem to be tightly packed into undersized clothing that would embarrass even the most hardened streetwalker. What are these teens eating nowadays and what could their parents possibly be thinking in allowing them to dress like this?

Please don’t think that I’m picking solely on women though. You also have the fat men who can’t wait to strip off their shirts to expose their bulging jelly-bellies! Some of them just pull their shirts up, showing off their bulbous guts to innocent bystanders who just want to keep from puking! Men with hairy backs and shoulders accentuated by tank-top tees are also part of the lovely mosaic of sweltering NYC streets. There are men walking around who make Khalid Sheikh Mohammed look smoother than a baby’s butt. Then, there are the men who insist on wearing open sandals exposing their crusty yellow nails that are as thick as the vault doors at the Federal Reserve Bank. Often, their toes have far more hair on them than their heads do. Hey guys….for the love of God – please leave the open-toed shoes for the ladies!

While most people throughout this great country look forward to the warm days of summer, many sane people in New York don’t share their enthusiasm. Unfortunately, most of the negative and annoying things that are part of daily life in NYC are greatly aggravated by the warm weather.

Anyone know of any summer homes for rent in Alaska?
