My track record of predicting Super Bowl winners on this blog is 100% – 100% wrong, that is! Therefore, I won’t be making any this year, and most likely, never again. Besides, I really don’t care much about it. I can’t seem to get too excited about an overly commercialized sports event while our entire nation is crumbling down around us. I know it’s good to escape reality once in a while, but I guess I’m just not in the mood.

We have a Marxists in the White House whose true identity is still a mystery regardless of whether or not he was born in the US. The opposition is hell-bent on nominating a “moderate” flip-flopper whose real beliefs will probably remain unknown until he’s finally sworn in and starts governing – that’s if he can actually win.

I’ll watch the Super Bowl; but I’ll probably be working on the laptop while sipping an adult beverage and occasionally glancing at the score. The half-time show featuring Madonna will definitely be turned off! I’d much rather watch the mating rituals of Antarctic penguins on the National Geographic channel.

In the end, I believe that the Patriots will probably win, if for anything, to avenge the Giants fluke win the last time the two teams met in the Super Bowl. There, I said it! I know that I probably just lost half my readership, but I refuse to self-censor, so there!

Did I say I wasn’t going to make a prediction?

Hmmm… So that’s what it feels like to be a politician.

Andruw (no, I didn’t misspell his name) Jones and Eric Chavez: these are the two washed up has-beens the Yankees signed this past winter. Lance Berkman, who ended the season with them last year was allowed to leave and sign with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Yankees never really gave Berkman a ligit shot last season. Berkman was plagued by injuries most of the season and when he came to the Yankees he wasn’t the future hall of famer that he was during his long tenure with the Houston Astros. Also, Berkman was treated like the outsider that he was in the cliquish Yankee clubhouse.

Well, well, what a difference an off-season and a healthy body make. Berkman is tearing it up for the St. Louis Cardinals. Coming into tonight’s game with the Atlanta Braves, Berkman is:

2nd in the league in batting – .412

2nd in the league in home runs – 8

2nd in the league in RBI’s – 22

1st in the league in Slug. Pct. – .795

3rd in the league in On Base Pct. – .467

2nd in the league in doubles – 8

5th in the league in Hits – 35

3rd in the league in Runs Scored – 22

1st in the league in OPS. – 1.263

If Berkman was on the Yankees he would be leading the team in all the above categories – by a wide margin!

Lance Berkman: tearing it up for the St. Louis Cardinals

I know some of my fellow New Yorkers are not going to be happy with me, but I’m really starting to get tired of the NY Yankees. They are predominantly a team of for-hire prima donna’s who are used to having the Steinbrenner family buy them into the playoffs every year. I’m also starting to get a bit tired of the shrinking “Royal Yankee” clique of Jeter, Posada, Rivera, and maybe now A-Rod.

Over the years I’ve also slowly but surely become a bit tired of all the hoopla over Derek Jeter. Sure he’s a future hall of famer who has big numbers in the hits department, but that’s about it. I’ve also grown a bit weary in regards to his reputation. I think Jeter has just as big an ego as A-Rod and any other “top star” in baseball. Quite frankly, I don’t see the “nice guy” aura that the NY media has put on him. To me, Jeter comes across as an aloof jerk who barely tolerates people outside his “inner circle.”

On the other hand, I have always been a huge fan of lance Berkman. Not only is he a great player, but he’s a true human being and a stand up guy. Berkman is quiet, humble, intelligent, family oriented, and he truly appreciates all of the gifts he’s received from playing baseball in the greatest country in the world.

I also love it when a really good person like Lance Berkman is written-off by the know-it-all media then stuffs it back in their faces!

Hopefully, Berkman and the Cardinals will meet the Yankees in this fall’s World Series!

A highly ranked Iowa high school wrestler was disqualified during the first round of a state tournament for refusing to wrestle a female opponent. Sophomore Joel Northrup compiled a 35-4 record this season competing for Linn Mar high school in Des Moines, Iowa.

Read the NY Post story here.

The teen released the following statement:

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cassy and Megan and their accomplishments. However, wrestling is a combat sport and it can get violent at times. As a matter of conscience and my faith I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa.”

To Joel Northrup I say Way to Go! To the liberal a-holes who decided that boys should wrestle girls I say you are Pathetic and Ignorant! Is there no end to the madness that is political correctness? Is there no institution in America that is not infested with it?

Before some of you turn purple with indignation, let me say that I’m all for girls/women competing in athletics. If I had a daughter, I would have no problem with her participating in sports – in fact, I would probably encourage her. So there! However, there are certain sports where co-ed competition borders on insanity.

A few examples:

Boxing

Hockey

Football

And yes, wrestling.

For instance, there are many reasons why a female should not go into a boxing ring with a male of the same weight category. First: there’s a good chance the female could sustain serious injury. Second: the competition may become tainted because the male doesn’t go all out as he would against another male opponent. Third: it’s not fair to the male because either way he loses.

What I’d like to know is when did participating in a sport become a civil right?

In this day and age where women’s sports are almost as big as men’s sports, I can’t imagine a logical reason why women and men should compete against each other in a contact sport. In reality all professional sports and Olympic sports are segregated by gender. Does anyone have a problem with the fact that the Olympics have a women’s ski team and a men’s ski team? Does anyone have a problem with the fact that there are two winners in the NYC marathon – the men’s winner and the woman’s winner? If men and women are truly equal when it comes to physical competition, why then is it ok to have separate competitions based on gender? If there’s no difference physically between men and women, then women skiers should compete against men skiers in the Winter Olympics, and women swimmers should compete against men swimmers in the Summer Olympics. Why is it that I don’t hear anyone making that suggestion?

This Iowa teen was put into a no-win situation by the dummies that run the Iowa education system. Knowing our great Universities and Colleges, the choice he made could possibly prevent him from receiving an athletic scholarship. Political correctness is slowly but surely destroying the high school and college experience for many male (and female) athletes. Under Title IX which states in part that “no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance” – many male high school and college sports programs have been eliminated simply because there weren’t enough women to field a team of their own. Young Joel Northrup is just another innocent victim of the progressive movement; a devious movement where human nature and common sense take a back seat to identity politics.

One of the earliest pioneers of health and fitness, Jack LaLanne, passed away yesterday at the age of 96.

Read NY Daily News story here.

Jack LaLanne is a shinning example of the American dream come true. This first generation American born to French immigrants in 1914 was an early pioneer in the health and fitness industry. LaLanne used his passion for health and fitness to become very wealthy while at the same time helping millions of Americans become stronger and healthier. That’s the American Dream at its best; helping yourself while providing a great product and/or service that benefits others.

Among many other accomplishments, LaLanne paved the way for all modern day health and fitness clubs. His chain of health clubs eventually became known as Bally Total Fitness. He was an early proponent of lifting weights to strengthen and tone the body; eventually making it acceptable for women to use weight training – a concept that had previously long been taboo.

Jack LaLanne: September 26, 1914 - January 23, 2011

Although we’ve now taken a few steps backwards, LaLanne helped to make Americans the fittest and best looking people on the planet. His dream, propelled by his drive, work ethic, and enthusiasm, has paved the way for millions of Americans to achieve their personal fitness goals. Professional athletes who now make millions of dollars per year also owe a debt of gratitude to Jack LaLanne. Due to the concepts that were created and popularized by LaLanne, athletes are now bigger, stronger, and have a lot more longevity. Because of the great advances in health and fitness, 40 is the new 30, and 50 is the new 40.

As anyone who has dabbled in physical fitness and athletics knows, the better you look and feel, the better your chances of happiness and success. Jack LaLanne truly lived a fruitful and purposeful life; and isn’t that what we all really want for ourselves and our loved ones?

I don’t think it’s much of a surprise that the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers came away victorious in yesterday’s AFC and NFC championship match-ups.

Even though I’ll probably anger many of my fellow New Yorkers, (which is often my goal) but it was about time the Jets Cinderella season (aka lucky season) came to an end. The jets are a decent team, but they’re not among the NFL elites. Mark Sanchez, whose ego far outshines his talent, is at best an average NFL quarterback. On the other hand, Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger is a proven winner. He doesn’t always put up the best stats, but he’s tough as an Ox and always manages to do what it takes. That’s why he’s going for his 3rd Super Bowl ring at the age of 28.

Speaking of tough quarterbacks, Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers led his team to victory over the Chicago Bears and their three quarterbacks, Jay Cutler, Todd Collins, and Caleb Hanie. Rodgers should be named the MVP of the league – not Tom Brady! There was some controversy over the Bears starter Jay Cutler sitting out the second half of the biggest game of his life with a knee injury. It’s now being reported that he may have suffered a torn MCL, but the image of him riding an exercise bike on the sidelines after the injury is what sticks in people’s minds. Regardless of whether or not Cutler was seriously hurt, in my book he was always a wuss, and still is!

As far as Super Bowl XLV, (That’s 45 for all you Obama supporters) I don’t particularly care that much about the outcome. This is definitely a game that both teams deserve to be in. I believe it’ll probably be a pretty close game with the Steelers coming out on top 31 to 27.

Maybe the politically correct cowards at ESPN should refer this incident to Eric Holder for possible civil rights violations. Oh… silly me, Ms. Edwards is just a white woman!

Yesterday, ESPN fired longtime college football broadcaster Ron Franklin for supposedly making sexist remarks to a female co-worker. In a pre-production meeting before last Friday’s Chick-fil-A Bowl, Franklin made the remarks to sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards.

While speaking with a couple of male colleagues, Franklin evidently got testy with Ms. Edwards when she attempted to join their conversation. There are a couple of different accounts of what Franklin said to the thin-skinned Ms. Edwards.

According to Foxsports.com, Franklin told Ms. Edwards “Listen to me, sweet baby, let me tell you something.” When Ms. Edwards told him not to speak to her like that, Franklin then amended his remark to “OK then, listen to me, asshole.”

According to earlier accounts of the horrific incident, Franklin told Edwards “Listen to me, sweet cakes, let me tell you something.”

Instead of calling Franklin an asshole right back, or using the tried and true F-U and walking away, Ms. Edwards immediately went running to the brass to complain about the 68 year old Franklin. Tough cookie…that Jeannine Edwards.

Maybe the politically correct cowards at ESPN should refer this incident to Eric Holder for possible civil rights violations. Oh… silly me, Ms. Edwards is a white woman – never mind!

OK, perhaps Mr. Franklin was a bit abrupt, but when has wanting to exclude someone from a conversation become a firing offence? Would Franklin have been fired if he called a male co-worker a dick head and told him to get lost? So…sweet baby and asshole are grounds to fire an employee who has been with you for 23 years? What happened to reprimands and/or suspensions? Just pathetic!

I’ve worked with people like Mr. Franklin over the years, and I’ve been talked to and screamed at with much harsher language than he used towards Ms. Edwards. In fact, I’ve worked for companies where the term asshole was far more commonly used than good morning. I’m pretty sure that most of you (especially New Yorkers) reading this know what I’m talking about.

While I’m on the subject, why not really get myself into hot water by asking this simple question: Why are all (ok, ok, 99%) the sideline reporters for NFL and college football females? Is that a prerequisite for the position now? The same goes for the NBA! I’m 100% for equal opportunity, but give me a break already. Can’t the networks throw in a couple of male sideline reporters? Can’t they hire some retired football players for those positions? Oh, I forgot, you need a journalism degree from Columbia in order to do that extremely challenging job.

The Drudge Report posted a link to a story about Baltimore Oriole outfielder/DH Luke Scott spouting off about our beloved president Barack Hussein Obama. In an instant, Luke Scott has become one of my favorite players in MLB. I’ll be rooting for him big time from now on.

Scott was being interviewed by David Brown of Yahoo’s Big League Stew when he ripped Obama a new one.

Scott:

“Obama does not represent America. Nor does he represent anything what our forefathers stood for.”

Would it be possible to trade Luke Scott to the United States Senate for Mitch McConnell or John McCain?

He also touched on another subject that most Republicans and even conservative talk show hosts and analysts have tried their best to run from – Obama’s constitutional eligibility to serve as POTUS.

Scott:

“He was not born here. That’s my belief. I was born here, if someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, See? Look! Here it is. Here it is. The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn’t answer anything. And why? Because he’s hiding something.”

Even if Obama was actually born in Hawaii, there are still constitutional eligibility questions that need to be addressed – or should I say needed to be addressed. Were both of his parent’s citizens of the United States at the time of his birth? Was or is Obama a citizen of Indonesia, and if so, did he ever renounce his Indonesian citizenship? What passport did Obama use to get into Pakistan in 1981? The eligibility question is far from closed regardless of how uncomfortable it makes Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Bill O’Reilly feel.

Show us your birth certificate Mr. Obama! The rest of us have to show ours in order to get drivers licenses and passports. Show us yours! Show the world how crazy, hateful, and racist we “Birthers” are! While you’re at it, please release your college records and grades, term papers, Harvard Law Review articles, passport records, medical records, etc. Aside from your penchant for Marxism and your affinity for Islam, we know so little about you – Mr. President.

Luke Scott: Smarter than your average professional sports star.

Scott also spoke out on the Second Amendment, wealth redistribution, and big government.

Read interview here.

Not surprisingly, the Baltimore Orioles immediately tried to distance themselves from Scott’s statements. Greg Bader, Orioles Director of Communications released the following statement:

“Luke Scott’s comments do not reflect the opinion of the Baltimore Orioles organization. The fact is that Barack Obama is our President, duly elected by the people of the United States. End of story.”

Notice that Mr. Bader’s statement didn’t mention that Luke Scott has a constitutional right to his own opinion. How long until Scott finds himself on the trading block, or even on waivers? One thing is for certain: whatever locker room Luke Scott finds himself in will probably be a very, very, cold one for him.

What is so special about Marcus Thames? Why did the Yankees acquire Berkman? Girardi’s puzzling loyalty to Thames has me scratching my head! It would seem that he’s getting the Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada treatment.

I finally had enough after yesterday’s total domination of the Yankees by Cliff Lee (8-0 two-hitter). What the hell is Joe Girardi thinking by sitting Lance Berkman and playing Marcus Thames?

Let’s see: Marcus Thames (pronounced Tims) has played in 9 major league seasons and has a lifetime bating average of .248. This past season with the Yankees he hit a career high .288 in 82 games predominantly against left-handed pitching.

To date, Thames has appeared in 13 post season games with a batting average of .243. Not exactly Babe Ruth we’re talking about here.

Who the hell is Marcus Thames?

On the other hand, Lance Berkman has been one of the most productive players in baseball over the past decade. In 12 Major League seasons Berkman is a lifetime .296 hitter with 327 home runs. This average includes this season’s injury riddled career low of .248 split between the Yankees and Houston Astros. Note: .248 is Marcus Thames career batting average, as I stated above.

To date, Berkman has appeared in 31 post season games with a batting average of .327. In those 31 games Berkman has driven in 29 runs and hit 7 homers. These stats are part of the reason that Berkman has been known as one of the most clutch players in the national league.

Lance Berkman: collecting splinters while Marcus Thames plays - WTF?

What is so special about Marcus Thames? Why did the Yankees acquire Berkman? Girardi’s puzzling loyalty to Thames has me scratching my head! It would seem that he’s getting the Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada treatment. Does Thames have some sort of compromising pictures of Joe Girardi, or what? I just don’t get it!

Hey Girardi! You have a proven potent weapon sitting on the bench collecting splinters in his tuchus while your entire lineup is slumping, and you’re on the verge of being eliminated by the Texas Rangers. Wake the hell up, stop this pathetic platoon system, and put Lance Berkman into your freakin lineup already!

The argument for this stupid idea is that it “raises awareness” of Breast Cancer. Give me a break already! This kind of symbolism is shallow and often self serving.

One of the many aspects of political correctness that I really despise is the obligatory display of phony feel-good symbolism. As we all know, the Alinsky Left is all about using language and symbolism in order to attract the angry, ignorant, envious, and gullible to their side. With the Left, it’s never about results, but about intent and feelings. If you’re against Cap & Trade, then you must be against clean air and water. If you’re against unbridled welfare, then you must be for poor people starving and freezing to death. If you don’t want to wear a red ribbon on World Aids Day, then you must be in favor of people dying of AIDS; or at least unsympathetic to people who are afflicted with it.

I realize that these things have been going on for years now, but it still made me bristle when I turned on the TV this past Sunday and noticed that NFL players were all decked out in pink to support breast cancer awareness.

I may as well admit right now that I’m a big supporter of breast cancer. I don’t want the disease defeated even though I have a wife, mother, sisters, aunts, cousins, etc. I’m really a cold hearted bastard!

Those NFL players looked comical wearing pink shoes, wristbands, headbands, caps, and so forth. It just goes to show how the individuality has been almost completely removed from professional sports. None of these players had the guts to say they weren’t going to wear pink all over their uniforms. It seems that making tons of money can actually turn some people into slaves. Were these players afraid of the consequences if they refused to wear pink? How about if a player agreed to donate $10,000 dollars to Breast Cancer Research instead of wearing the pink colors? Does anyone believe that this offer would satisfy the people behind this stupid idea? No it wouldn’t! In the sick world of political correctness, symbolism carries more weight than action!

The argument for this stupid idea is that it “raises awareness” of Breast Cancer. Give me a break already! This kind of symbolism is shallow and often self serving. If anything, I believe there are some people who feel that they don’t have to really do something because they wore the pink. Now they could feel good about themselves – they care! No further action is needed.

Careful Tom: those shoes and that position...

I can’t help but think about an episode of Seinfeld where Kramer participates in an Aides Walk, but refuses to wear the now famous red Aids ribbon. He’s quickly pounced on by gay activists who berate and threaten him for not wearing the ribbon. They accuse him of not being against Aids even though he’s taking the time to participate in the walk. Even the liberal moron creators and writers of the show (Jerry Seinfeld & Larry David – Yuk!) recognized the absurdity of the phony ribbon wearing requirements.

In fairness, I will also stand up to conservative political correctness and not criticize anyone who doesn’t choose to wear an American flag pin on their clothing. This is probably the only time you’ll hear me coming to the defense of Barack Obama, but he has the right to not wear the flag on his lapel without being branded un-American. If anything, it’s Obama’s actions that may make him un-American, not his refusal or forgetfulness to wear a stupid pin! In certain settings, I used to wear an American flag pin on some of my jackets back in the pre 911 nineties. I don’t wear one anymore because it really doesn’t mean much now that Chuck Schumer also wears one.

I hate political correctness regardless of the subject or source. I refuse to be told that I have to subscribe to some sort of shallow symbolism in order to prove my support for a cause. Forcing NFL players to wear pink is absolutely ridiculous. Other than making a lot of people feel warm and fuzzy, it accomplished little to nothing in the fight to cure the disease.

But then again, I hate all women and I’m a big supporter of breast cancer!

Isn't it sort of amusing that anyone would be charged for supposedly lying to a collection of people who make Pinocchio look like Abe Lincoln? That’s really rich!

News broke out today that the federal government has indicted former MLB pitcher Roger Clemens on 6 counts of lying to congress.

Move over KSM - there's a new public enemy #1 in town.

I don’t know where to start!

Raving black racists (New Black Panther Party) standing in front of polling places with billy clubs attempting to intimidate people from voting walk away scot-free, but a former baseball player who allegedly lied to a congressional panel in 2008 about his use of HGH warrants prosecution?

Nothing to see here folks - nothing to see here!

Are we living in the Bizzaro World, or what?

Isn’t it sort of amusing that anyone would be charged for supposedly lying to a collection of people who make Pinocchio look like Abe Lincoln? That’s really rich!

I guess it’s fine for members of Congress to lie to the American people over and over again, but don’t dare lie back to them! I know, I know, Roger Clemens was under oath when he allegedly lied. Alright then; let’s put members of Congress under oath when they hold their town hall meetings with the public. Even better, let’s put them under oath when they’re campaigning and debating each other. We’d quickly run out of minimum security prison space!

By the way, why only Roger Clemens?

I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lew....oops, I mean, I never ever took steroids..

No hablo ingles señor Congressman..

How about the finger wagging Rafael Palmeiro, Mr. ‘No hablo ingles’ – Sammy Sosa, or any of the other alleged juicers who appeared before Congress? As far as I know, only Jose Conseco fessed up and told the truth. He was rewarded by being ostracized by MLB. Roger Clemens supposedly put a target on his own back because he was openly defiant and dismissive of the pompous creeps on the committee. He’s already been ostracized by MLB, and now he’s being prosecuted by the federal government.

I promise to weed out all steroid users and try them in Guantanamo..

Way to go Mr. Holder! Nobody will ever be able to say that you’re soft on the enemies of America again!
