About

My name is Pete and I’m a very rare creature. In fact, I’m close to extinction. No I’m not some sort of spotted owl, but rather a conservative/libertarian New Yorker!

You see, there are a few of us left in NYC, but we rarely step out of the shadows lest we be ridiculed, berated, and persecuted by the open-minded tolerant liberals that run wild and plentiful in this once great city. We are the Gotham Resistance!

I’m a “real” New Yorker, not some liberal yuppie transplant who came here to further my career or to escape “conservative” Middle America. I attended NYC public schools from kindergarten to high school. I played touch-football, softball, basketball and stickball in the schoolyards of Queens.

As a young man, I became interested in “conservative” philosophy because it simply made sense to me. I never ran with the “in crowd” and I always thought for myself. I may not, however, be your typical “conservative”. I truly believe in a creator, but I am not very religious. I believe in personal and economic liberty. I believe in the constitution and the rule of law. I believe that government should always be looked upon with a healthy suspicion, no matter what political party is in power. I believe that people are ultimately responsible for their own lives.

I’m warning you, my posts on this blog are written in the manner in which I speak and think in my daily life. I don’t speak the language of pointy–headed pencil-necked intellectuals. So if you are an uptight liberal, a holier than thou moderate, or a spineless republican, this blog may not be for you. If however, you enjoy straight talk and hate political correctness, liberal hypocrisy, and snobby elitism, you will most likely have a good time reading and participating in the Gotham Resistance.
